In a vibrant Welcome Week, the Faculty of
Economics and Political Science warmly greets its new students and
looks forward to an academic year filled with excellence and
achievements.
The Faculty of Economics and Political Science –
Cairo University successfully concluded the activities of its
“Welcome Week” for the new academic year, held from September 20 to
24, 2025. The week was designed to help new students integrate
smoothly into the faculty’s environment, familiarize themselves with
its systems, and explore both academic and community opportunities.
The program’s agenda offered a comprehensive overview of the
academic journey and the opportunities available, combined with an
intensive dose of orientation and guidance for the newcomers.
The events featured key meetings with Prof. Dr.
Hanan Mohamed Ali, Dean of the Faculty, along with the Vice Deans,
Heads of Departments, and Directors of Centers and Units, who
extended their official welcome and presented academic and
administrative visions. In addition, the Director of the Library and
the Head of the Office for International Cooperation and Exchange
Programs introduced institutional services and student exchange
opportunities. The week also hosted high-level strategic seminars,
most notably a lecture by Major General Samir Farag, former Governor
of Luxor and former Director of the Armed Forces’ Department of
Morale Affairs, titled “Challenges of Egyptian National Security”.
Another highlight was a distinguished talk by H.E. Ambassador
Mohamed El-Orabi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and President
of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, entitled “Egyptian
Diplomacy in a Changing World.”
The faculty also emphasized student and community
activities, organizing introductory sessions on the services
provided by the Youth Welfare Administration, as well as honoring
students who had achieved sporting championships. Meetings with the
Student Union were also held to discuss its activities and plans,
alongside an art exhibition, cultural workshops, and a variety of
competitions that ran throughout the week.
The Faculty’s
administration affirms that the momentum and diversity of Welcome
Week’s events reflect its commitment to providing students with a
strong and distinguished start to their educational journey. It aims
to prepare them with comprehensive academic and national awareness,
highlighting the Faculty’s leading scientific and academic position,
and contributing effectively to advancing development at both the
national and regional levels.
