In a new achievement
added to its distinguished record, the Faculty of Economics and
Political Science – Cairo University has won first place in
the Government Excellence Award at the level of Cairo University,
in strong competition among the university’s faculties.
The
faculties underwent an intensive training program organized by the
Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on the award’s
mechanisms and criteria, during which each faculty identified two
main tasks to work on. In addition, each faculty appointed an
“Excellence Ambassador” to manage the excellence file and
prepare the necessary documentation, alongside a peer evaluator
assigned to assess another faculty. At FEPS, Dr. Mayada Aref,
Assistant Professor of Social Computing, served as the Excellence
Ambassador.
In this context, Prof.
Hanan Mohamed Ali – Acting Dean of the Faculty – emphasized that
winning first place is the result of continuous effort from all
members of the faculty, including staff, students, and
administrators. She stressed that this achievement reflects the
spirit of teamwork and dedication, noting that the faculty continues
year after year to stand as a model of academic and administrative
excellence, strengthening its position nationally and regionally.
Following the initial
evaluation stage, five faculties were shortlisted for the final
round. FEPS was announced among the top three faculties at Cairo
University, then crowned first place, making it eligible
to compete for the award at the national level, where the
top five faculties from Cairo University will advance to the
national competition.
This accomplishment
reflects the faculty’s commitment to institutional excellence,
quality standards, and governance, reaffirming its pioneering
role as a leading academic think tank contributing effectively
to development and decision-making at both the national and
regional levels.
