The Faculty of Economics and Political
Science, Cairo University, concluded its annual conference, held
on September 29–30, 2025, under the title “Development in the
Age of Artificial Intelligence: Economic and Political
Perspectives.” The conference brought together a distinguished
group of leading researchers, experts, and decision-makers from
Egypt, where participants discussed the major opportunities and
challenges associated with artificial intelligence and its
economic, political, and social implications.
The conference sessions addressed a wide
range of issues, including the green economy and the transition
toward sustainable development, the future of financial
inclusion and digital finance, the role of artificial
intelligence in crisis management and decision-making, as well
as education in the era of the Fifth Industrial Revolution and
the jobs of the future. The academic discussions were enriched
by the presentation of twenty-six peer-reviewed research papers
from various universities and research institutions, adding
depth and diversity to the dialogue.
The conference was inaugurated by Professor
Ghada Abdel Bari, Vice President of Cairo University for
Community Service and Environmental Development, who emphasized
that the Faculty of Economics and Political Science is the
leading faculty at the university in the field of governmental
excellence, praising its pioneering role in addressing
contemporary issues. She commended the choice of artificial
intelligence as a central theme, stressing that the conference
examined this subject from economic, political, administrative,
statistical and computational perspectives, highlighting the
faculty’s vision and leadership. She also expressed confidence
that the faculty would achieve a distinguished position in the
National Government Excellence Award and invited attendees to
participate in Cairo University’s upcoming conference on
artificial intelligence, scheduled for October 18–19, 2025.
Professor Hanan Mohamed Ali, Acting Dean of
the Faculty, stated that the success of the conference was the
result of integrated collective efforts and reflects the
faculty’s pioneering role in presenting rigorous scientific
insights that support development and decision-making processes
in Egypt. She highlighted that the faculty’s strategic
partnerships with international and regional institutions
strengthen its ability to lead scientific dialogue and generate
applied knowledge that serves society and policymakers.
The conference concluded its work by issuing
a set of practical recommendations, focusing on the importance
of investing in research and development in the field of
artificial intelligence, updating legislation regulating its
applications, integrating AI concepts into university curricula,
and enhancing partnerships between universities, research
centers, and decision-makers.
The Faculty expressed its sincere
appreciation to all participants and supporters, affirming that
the conference will continue to be held annually as a
distinguished scientific platform for research and thought,
contributing to consolidating Cairo University’s position as one
of the region’s foremost academic centers of expertise.
